Tried the guava horn (90 cents); pastry was flaky, filling was gummy. From the sweets display at this Mexican bakery, I also picked up a Dulces Vero brand "super chavo" (.88 ounces; 75 cents), a mango-tamarind lollipop with chili powder. I expected a flavor akin to chili-spiced Thai tamarind candy; what I got was a lozenge-shaped lollipop literally dipped in chili powder.
Quite a lot had fallen off inside the sealed packet, and not wanting to waste, I swirled my lollipop in the extra powder. Mistake; my lollipop was so hot I had to take it out of my mouth several times before I could make my way to the hard-candy center — which, after all that, was just your generic red-lollipop flavor.
