Martin's Pretzels

Four whole hard pretzels ($1) were good, if you like pretzels, but I managed to save two of them until I stopped by my friend Dave's sidewalk book tables, a half-mile walk away.

N.B. Softer food — say, bagels, even crispy bagels — make better walking food. There's much less occasion to decide whether to invoke the five-second rule.
