According to the proprietress of this small stand, only one local farmer supplies her with "sugar plums" (pint; $1.50) during their three-week season — and the trees bear fruit just every other year. They're a little larger and darker than bing cherries, with the same variability in color, but they're generally on the sweeter side. Yes, they do have pits.
