Upstairs from Rick's American Café, this roomy space was recently remodeled with intentions of catching some of the higher-end business on the lighthouse end of Long Beach Island. The multicolored, julienned bell peppers in the scallop ceviche (shown; $8) were another nod in this direction, though I thought the citrus juices competed too much with the sweet local scallops. Jer's fried calamari ($9.75) was very tender; worth the visit alone, he said.
My two jumbo lump crab cakes ($26.75), with grainy mustard and crunchy slaw, weren't terribly large, but they were indeed stuffed with savory chunks of (Maryland) crab. Jer and Mom both found her kobe burger ($17) excellent, once our apologetic servers brought one medium rare rather than well-done; I still thought it was on the dry side. Jer said the rigatoni ($16) was good, too.
