(This venue is closed.) Columbia-area restaurant with plain, student-friendly décor; a bowl of adequate miso started me off. An appetizer of hiya yakko (cold tofu; $3.75) showed up as four white blocks of an almost cheesy consistency; dressing them with bonito flakes and scallions changed little. Saba ichiyaboshi (grilled mackerel; shown; $7.95 lunch special) was oily even for mackerel, and it seemed broiled rather than grilled. With white rice, steamed carrots and broccoli, and three salty unskinned half-potatoes that were the best part of my lunch.
