At a group dinner, Golden Unicorn started us off with a creditable Peking Duck, served on the fluffy steamed buns called mantou rather than on pancakes. A second course shredded the remaining duck and tossed it with crisp "rainbow vegetables."
Another favorite of the evening: a combo of fresh and dried salt-baked squid (bottom photo). The purplish color of the dried squid, reconstituted by soaking in warm water before cooking, betrayed its more concentrated flavor.
