An egg tart (HK6) was just that. These tarts, as well as baskets of nut-studded shortbreadlike cookies, seem to be on offer at nearly every shop in the touristy center of the Macau peninsula, but stray into territory frequented mostly by locals and you'll find these snacks largely and suspiciously absent.

Those eggs tarts are really delicious. They can also be found in Hong Kong.
There is one shop in Tsim Sha Tsui which sell the same type as made in Macau and many others also sell egg tarts (around 2.5 HKD) which are not as good.

I really enjoy your blog and your simple style of writing. "An egg tart was just that." Wonderful.

Try one of Lord Stowe's cafes. They are in Japan as well as the original one in Coloane, Macau. I had only tried the original Portuguese tarts because I work in London with many Porto nationals, the custard tarts in Macau are generally not as nice, but Lord Stows are quite good.
