Lemon Ice King of Corona
"Is it good?" asked the Asian family next to me when I asked for a blueberry ice (medium; $1.50). I have no idea, was my answer; I ordered blueberry because the Mets were playing that evening.
Realistic flavor despite the surreal color; although I admire the effort to include pieces of fruit, the feel of semifrozen berries in my mouth was curious at best.
On a previous visit, I was surprised by the colors of licorice and apple ices ($1 each, at that time, for two small cups; Lemon Ice King doesn't mix flavors). For the licorice, I imagined gray; what I was handed might have been lemon ice if not for the occasional black tidbit that bled color into the surrounding white. For the apple (at left), green was so fixed in my mind that I thought my server must have heard "almond" when I took custody of a brown ice with slivers...of apples, after all. Sparkling flavor from both varieties.
