Considering the roster of some 70 named varieties, 40 or so optional toppings, a half-dozen bun and bread options, and a choice of beef patty or grilled chicken breast, it's no wonder I can never remember just what I've tried here.
I've certainly ventured the "Route 66" (shown below as served, $8.95), avocado, bacon, and swiss on dark rye; not bad once fully assembled in burgerlike form, but next time I'll take mine on a bun. Since Island Burgers doesn't serve fries, only baked potatoes (with any of those 40 toppings) or "dirty" chips, when I arrive here extra-hungry I tend toward the black-and-white milkshake (not shown, $4.25). It's a loose swirl of chocolate and vanilla with a consistency not far from soft-serve ice cream. Sipping it is a pleasantly slow task, best performed on island time.
