(This venue is closed.) Steamtable storefront that's more convenient for carry-out; I managed to secure one of the few tables for my bowl of harira ($2.50), a hearty, slightly spicy lentil soup, and this fork-tender chicken tagine ($7.99) with prunes and sliced almonds over couscous. Both were prepared Moroccan-style, the counterman told me; Tunisian variants await another visit.

Your site is the only place I've found that mentions Grand Maghreb, fka Tunisian Moroccan. I love this place but lately it has been closed down at lunch and dinner. I though maybe it was a Ramadan thing but the number has been disconnected. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fight I walked in on midday about a month ago. The woman, who is a brilliant cook, was screaming at the man, I guess her husband? She paused for breath long enough to turn to me and shout 'we're closed' before they went back at it. I hope they are not gone forever!

I hope not, either, but that doesn't sound good. I'll try to take a look for myself Saturday, on Eid-al-Fitr.
Thanks for the info!

The security shutters were drawn when I eventually circled by, but the bartender next door, at the ominously named Fubar, confirmed that the folks at Grand Maghreb had been "gutting the place." Too bad.
