Il Laboratorio del Gelato
Il Laboratorio's gelatos and sorbets are offered in repertory, perhaps a dozen each on any given day, so the honey lavender that eludes you on one visit may be waiting patiently on the next. The gelatos are superbly rich, creamy, and dense; the sorbets, crisp and smooth. The flavors are very direct; even with your eyes closed, there's little likelihood that you'll mistake one for another. Shown: a small cup ($3.25) split between lemon basil sorbet and buttermilk gelato.
