Café Orlin

This stepdown café, with sidewalk seating facing a quieter stretch of St. Mark's, has expanded its dining area considerably in the past 20 years; the menu retains many items with a Mediterranean bent.

My vegetarian sampler ($10) included the usual hummus, babaganush, tabouli, and rice, plus a pita; green beans were woven into the fresh tagliatelle with pesto (special; $9). Ably prepared, if not life-changing.
