Lu's is a local favorite, judging by the absence of seats in the front and back rooms, little reliance on menus (except at our table), and the continual (but not hurried) turnover.
Shown below: an oyster omelette ($5.95) with full-grown shellfish (not the usual babies) and sweet sauce; fried squid balls ($6.25) with salt and pepper; beef with Chinese watercress in sa-cha sauce ($8.95); and spicy eel "Taiwanese style," with yellow chives ($15.95). No exceptional dishes, at least on this first visit, but nice as a package; many little-seen items await a return. Bring on the smoked shark!
