Ronnybrook Milk Bar

The annual block party co-sponsored by Friends of the High Line — an old elevated railway on the West Side that's slated for conversion to public space — was the first place I tried this dairy's wonderful vanilla ice cream (small cup; $2). Since then they've expanded their takeout location at Chelsea Market into the sit-down Ronnybrook Milk Bar, which offers a light menu that includes granola, honey, and berries over the house yogurt, a "chilled Ronnybrook yogurt soup," plus salads and sandwiches. Any of the housemade ice creams can find its way into a milkshake; other shakes, like blackberry ($4.75), are blended from compote and my old favorite, vanilla ice cream. It's nice to see that Ronnybrook still offers that little extra, and that they still "deliver" in bottles.
