The lemony sauce and herbal adornment of the tender grilled squid (appetizer, $8.95) are characteristic of many dishes at this Egyptian seafood café.
The massive entrée portion (shown below, $12.95) — which arrives in bundt-cake formation, with a heft to match — should be taken on only by several hungry diners approaching from all sides.
On a earlier visit, the calamari was blown out of the water by a spice-rubbed, herb-stuffed, oven-roasted pair of porgies. At a more recent, summertime visit, the BBQ porgy (shown, $14.95), though not so lavish or moist, was still gratifying. Appetizers such as baba ghanoush and eggplant are considerably improved when paired with fresh-baked pita. Very hospitable service.
