The Nigerian fellows seemed bemused, or maybe it was just the sunshine that streamed past me into the bar. Last summer, I'd been walking and eating my way through Jamaica and Hollis, and I didn't have room for another bite, not even for a taste of peppered snail; ugba, an oil bean porridge served here with stockfish; or isi-ewu, translated by the menu simply as goat head.
On a return visit, at lunchtime, I made Samba my first stop and found it shuttered. The fellow who runs Para Ti Colombia Con Sabor, the small but expanding restaurant-café next door, told me that Samba is generally open only later in the week, and later in the day. I'll circle back again.
