I sometimes think that half of my enthusiasm for this joint is based on the ambience and good vibe. Although I've found the food to be hit or miss, I keep coming back for the year-round xmas lights, which remind me of a southern juke joint, and the friendly proprietor, the one who wears the nautical-type blue visor cap. There's a crispy skin tofu dish that I've liked, I think it's called Tahu Emaus, a silky smooth version of Hainan Chicken Rice, and a nice oversized Prawn dish as well. I'll be back.

Thanks very much for this post. Because of it, I went to Taste Good last night and had what was by far the best Malaysian restaurant experience I've had here (I've never been to Malaysia). I've been sampling Malaysian places for years -- nearly two decades -- and I've never walked into one that impressed me until now. First off, the place stinks of shrimp paste, which for me is a HUGE plus. :) Let me emphasize: I mean this in a good way -- it means they know what they're doing.

You are spot-on about the Singapore Kari Laksa. I also had their satay and the peanut sauce was actually oily and savory; it was authentic rather than the saccharine crap you usually get.

Great place, and again, thanks for the recommendation. I'll be back soon.

When you're in Flushing, stop in at Curry Leaves. They make fresh kaya every day, and according to the ladies from the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board, if you show up in the morning, you'll find fresh kueh, too.

Very delicious Kari Laksa http://i41.tinypic.com/r1hev7.jpg,
i thought about the flavor for the rest of the day
(I also tried the Assam Laksa which has a fishy+vegetable+pineapple+mint flavor, which i didnt quite enjoy myself http://i39.tinypic.com/o7k5u1.jpg)
Thank you Dave for the recommendation, will need to go back many times :D

Tried to go there today, but they had been shut down by the health department just minutes beforehand.
