Inside, the U-shaped arrangement of the display cases sometimes leaves little room to inspect the wonderful variety of baked goods (my excuse for not taking better notes). The round, empanada-like pastry below (though it went by another name; $2.50) deflated when I took a bite, but it still offered a satisfying combo of Swiss chard, egg, and a little mild cheese to bind them. The crisscrossed pastry (again, I didn't catch the name; $1.75) was filled with batata, a Caribbean sweet potato also called boniato. Very light and sweet; you might not guess that the filling was flavored by a tuber.
