Tuck Shop
For the lamington, that is ($3). This sponge-cake cube — with a strawberry jam center and a chocolate-and-coconut outer layer — succumbed within a matter of minutes, once I decided where to begin.
This very casual Australian-style eatery serves savory tuck, too. On a previous visit, a pork sausage and sage roll (below; $3) was appropriately greasy, probably not at all healthy, and absolutely, finger-lickingly good. I've also enjoyed their potato-topped, lamb-filled shepherd's pie (below; $5); if you're keen on veggies (after a fashion), for an extra $2 they'll douse it in pea soup, "Adelaide style." For next time, I'm keen on the Thai curry pie, flavored with kaffir lime leaves, galangal, coconut milk, basil, and chilis.
