The raisins, almonds, and chunks of apricot and papaya are well and good, thanks. But what most distinguishes this warm porridge ($9) is that it's made from farro, a variety of wheat with the looks of short-grain rice and a firm, almost chewy texture. It's clear…we're…going to get along.
On a previous visit, the bacon, egg, lettuce, and tomato sandwich (the "B.E.L.T."; $9.50) squeezed a lot of textural variety between two slices of sourdough toast; I especially liked the blackened borders of the applewood-smoked bacon. I couldn't tell that the egg was organic, or that the chicken in the matzoh ball soup ($6) was free-range, but the matzoh balls themselves were particularly tight-knit and springy.
