The presentation is uncommonly genteel.
This loungelike Senegalese restaurant tones down the more pungent West African flavors — for me, it was too tame — but the service is amiable, the music is pleasant, and first-timers would be very comfortable. Vegetarian-friendly, too.
Shown, above and below: mafe yapp (Mah-fay Yahp; $9), lamb in a (somewhat sweet) peanut-based sauce; teibou jean (Cheh-boo Jen; $9), a platter of bluefish (hidden in back) and vegetables (more variety would be better); okra ($9.50), also available with shrimp or with tofu.
