They can be any kind you can imagine. I grew up outside New York, but not far from it, so in my case you could have called them 'burber burgers.

Behind me, sizzle and smoke —
I can see burgers
is my preferred version. "Sizzling patties...I can see burgers" renames them for the reader but suggests that the poet has seen nothing new. "Behind me, sizzle and smoke" implies that the poet has turned about and, like the reader, experienced the delight of recognition.
