Sahadi's
It's the largest, busiest, and best-known of Atlantic Avenue's Middle Eastern provisioners, but sometimes I just stop in for a drink.
The heavy mouthfeel is reminiscent of prune juice, but even if you never saw the label, you'd quickly identify dates as the featured ingredient in Kassatly Chtaura brand jallab (jah-Lob; 300 ml.; 70 cents), from Lebanon. Jallab is a thorough (and inexpensive) thirst-quencher; it's also great for washing down a kibbee from the prepared-food counter in back.

You have an amazing food blog! I read "The Girl Who Ate Everything," but I like that you venture more often into the outerboroughs, because that's where I eat, mostly. Now I have some new choices. Thanks!

I also like that you review grocery items, markets, and mom and pop joints. Because, really, does it help anyone to read the 300th review on an already established restaurant?
