On a sweltering afternoon, this Brazilian padaria and lanchonete (bakery and sandwich shop) had plenty of room for our party of ten, and the ladies behind the counter had plenty of patience with our questions about nearly every pastry in the display case. (Obrigado!) Most are about $1.25-$1.50; the only two I managed to snap, before they were snapped up, were a spongecake folhado, or turnover, filled with dulce de leche, and a coconut-topped egg custard pastry (an oblong number with no custard but more coconut was even tastier). This 24-hour eatery also serves light bites (which I haven't tried; there's a link to the menu below) as well as hot and cold drinks. Lots of cold drinks.
