Limited elbow room ahead.
The lot beside the East River Bar is narrow to begin with; add tables on each side, and a row of tentpoles down the middle, and you're set for a slow-motion food-fair slalom. For a suggested $5 donation you could nibble at chocolate, vegan "bum bars," and ricotta with honey and olive oil from Salvatore Bklyn (shown below). The jalapeño style is intense, but a taste of McClure's garlic dill relish (9 oz.; $5) helped them ring up one sale very quickly; a little goes a long way, I confirmed that evening. Also shown below: a scoop of a very creamy, subtly flavored vanilla ($3.75) from Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream.
