Silent H

More a nod to the nearby neighborhood than a meeting of equals, the Greenpoint banh mi ($7) slips some sliced kielbasa under this sandwich's more typical vinegared carrot, cucumber, and daikon, plus cilantro, jalapeño, and pate, all on a toasted baguette liberally brushed with Vietnamese aioli. The price is about twice that at my favorite banh mi shop, but Silent H also offers outdoor seating (when the weather's nice) and a sparingly decorated dining room, where several locals were quietly reading and eating on a recent afternoon.

$7 for a banh mi? Outrageous!

2/$5 here in Orlando.
