You'd hope a blacktop playground wouldn't be so hot this time of year, but there you go. Of some two dozen tables staffed by local eateries, just two tempted cash from my wallet. Above, a $3 sampler plate from Rajbhog Sweets (where, naturally, I've usually been enticed by the sweets) offered several reasons to revisit its Gujarati-style savory dishes. Most notable: khandvi, pasta-like yellow rolls made from gram flour, and patra, steamed and spiced disks of colocasia (Co-lo-CAY-she-uh), which may simply be a fancy name for taro leaves. Below, a $3 sampler from the Thakali Kitchen included (clockwise from left) a rosy hot sauce, fried flatbread, a pair of the meat dumplings called momo, and aloo dam — the Tibetan equivalent of hash browns.
