Not the woes on Wall St. — the crash two Sundays ago in Morningside Heights, when an SUV collided with a taxi and ran into the glass-enclosed patio of this North Indian restaurant. Nine people were injured, reportedly, none of them seriously. A week later, a Department of Buildings notice still marked the outdoor café as unusable, but the dining room was serving more lunchtime customers than most other restaurants in the neighborhood. In fact, Indus Valley was back in business the day after the crash; it was one of the rare occasions when I was happy to find takeout menus waiting for me at the door.
