Viand Café

Delicious, says Dondi.

On Sunday mornings during the 1960s and 70s, Dondi was featured on the funny pages of the New York Daily News; his co-creator, artist Irwin Hasen, lives not far from Viand Café. It's a Greek diner, as Dondi implies, and quite good of its kind: Thanks to a very hot griddle, the outside of my Western omelette ($8.45, with toast; about three bucks less as a breakfast special) was patched with brown, but inside, the onion and pepper were still crisp.
