I missed my chance to try them in Beijing, and now again at this Fujianese noodle shop, where I spotted them on an auxiliary menu only as I was leaving. My hand-pulled noodles ($5, including fresh and pickled greens and a complimentary off-menu egg) featured fish balls that might be made from eel, my server ventured; I'm more sure that their recent home was in the freezer. (Good, fresh fish balls are a lot of work; entire businesses have been built on them.) In aggregate, the thin noodles were such a load that at first approach, my chopsticks bent perilously. I got your $5 worth; so will you.

I love hand-pulled noodles. Got a few for you from Paris:

This is great news. There used to be a hand-pulled noodle stall in Flushing in a mini-mall on Main Street, but I believe they weren't there the last time we looked.
This new place is located just right for us, as we also like to buy the almond cookies at Nom Wah Tea Parlor, just up Doyers St. Nom Wah's are the only jumbo almond cookies we've found that are still made with lard. A guilty pleasure!

Lard? I never knew. Those almond cookies are good, indeed.

went there yesterday. Nice pleasant waitress. You can see the guy making the noodles in the back. Had the beef + fried egg.

I am planning a walk from my place in Carroll Gardens to Union Square this weekend and plan to make this my half-way stopping point.
