All this and snails, too.
This shop on a Hanoi side street specializes in two soups featuring vermicelli noodles, or bun: bun rieu, which is flavored by crab paste, and bun oc (Boon Oak, shown here), starring snails. Not atypical for the North of Vietnam, both varieties are buried under tomatoes, scallions, and fried bean curd; my best photo of the snails is from the sidewalk display.
