But unlike their cousin the arancino, after one bite Joe's prosciutto balls (six for $3.90) collapse onto a filling of "peppery Locatelli-spiked ricotta, chewy mozzarella, and boiled ham"; at heart, they're real softies. And when you put your fingers into a bunch of goo that a moment before was a pristine prosciutto ball, you'll know what to do.

I love this odd little place and its wonderful rice balls. Just be careful that you don't show up while they are in the middle of making a huge order (something that happens frequently, as many former residents of the area come back and buy hundreds of rice balls for parties).
Most people in the neighborhood call it "Joe's Perette" because of the missing "U," which fell off years ago.
PS: They make great sandwiches, too.
