Potato pancakes (two for $6) were very thin, surely refried and yet not hot, wetted by applesauce and a puddle (a puddle!) of sour cream. (Though my photo doesn't properly show their charms, compare the bramboráky, as they're also known, at the Czech Independence Day Street Festival.)
Also reliably beer-absorbent: a pork shnitzel sandwich ($9) with the thinnest possible cutlet; platters featuring sausages ($14), roll mops ($9.50), and smoked mackerel ($10.95); and sauerbraten (not shown; $18), all of which were livened up by their trimmings. At bottom is a slice of Black Forest cake ($7); not shown, and not available on my most recent visit, is schokoladentorte (German chocolate cake; $7), which surprised me with coconut in the icing and filling. Snopes.com observes that the cake is an American creation, which helps explains the very un-German ingredient; it also rightly notes the cake's "rich, gooey sweetness." Order one to share; you can always ask for another.

Wow, pricey event for what you received.
I've found that deli mustard is as good a topping for latkes as sour cream or applesauce.
