This recently expanded Ecuadorian eatery bills itself as a panaderia, or bakery, and a picanteria, too.
Arrive with an appetite and the staff will make you a savory plate like chuchucara (above; $10), an intriguing if somewhat dry mélange of roast pork, french fries, plantain, fried hominy, lettuce, onions, and oversize boiled kernels of corn. If you're keen to try roast cuy (platter, $30-$45, depending on the size of the rodent), here's the place to find it; for the less daring, there's "rottis chicken."
Follow your entree with an excellent alfajor ($1.25), two crumbly biscuits joined by dulce de leche and topped with powdered sugar. Or try the morocho (small; $2), a smooth, sweet drink that blends white corn with milk and cinnamon and that carries a payload of raisins and whole kernels at the bottom of the cup. One stray clove slipped into mine.

nice pick up. I've been trying to find some cuy guinea pig around. hornado ecautoriano has them but you have to order in advance 3 days plus. I will definitely have to check this out. thanks for the scouting.
