It takes a long simmer to make a tender chicken paprikas (lunch portion; $7.25). That's all to the good: There's ample time for the seasonings, typically onion, garlic, black pepper, and paprika, to work their effects. Also shown: cucumber salad ($2.85); a very good stuffed cabbage ($2.95), filled with what seemed to be a blend of beef, veal, and pork; a "special plate" (lunch portion; $7.75) that was a repository for tough veal and indifferent carrots and beans as well as a moist pork loin, a piquant housemade pork sausage, and very good spaetzle-like "dumplings," also made in-house; and a palascinka ($2.25) that wrapped a thin, light crepe around apricot jam and finely crushed walnut.
