Like its neighbor Chandni, which sits on the other side of Masjid Ar-Rehman, La.Sani offers a steam table centered on South Asian food.
In addition to Pakistani, Indian, and Bangladeshi, the electronic ticker also cited Arabic and African cuisine. I saw no sign of the latter two on my visit, but the counterman mentioned from the first that the steam-table selections change every day. This day my lunch special ($6, including rice and a petite green salad) featured one dish populated by okra and onion and another, based on lentils, whose seasonings I couldn't pin down. Garlic, certainly, and onion once again. And ginger, said the lady in charge — who by this time was also tending the counter, as customers filed in after prayers — but her smile suggested that other ingredients were left unsaid.

I was pulled into this place after happening upon the Masjid during a walk one day. The seekh kebab I had was rife with ginger and green chilies --- I've been meaning to give the rest of it try.
