Usually a visit to Shangrila Express requires a visit to Jackson Heights; today, make that Morningside Heights.
In recent months the Columbia neighborhood has also played host to Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream — in colder weather hot chocolate is the greater attraction — and the Wafels and Dinges truck. Shangrila's lamb biryani ($5) was a basic rendition, flecked with orange and studded with chunks of meat (and a lone cardomom pod), with a dose of white sauce to counter its chili heat. The most appealing feature: its appearance on Broadway, the one in Manhattan rather than Queens, if only this once.

so that's where they went... One of the guys that owned the queens truck opened up a brick and mortar by the same name. And just recently, another tibetan cart has taken the spot formerly occupied by them - called Potala Foods http://www.flickr.com/photos/orlick/4345018612/ . I like that they went to Morningside Heights, if that's the case. Spread the wealth.
