To dissuade predators, a common adaptation of many caterpillars (butterflies and moths, too, when the caterpillars live to adulthood) are prominent markings that make the insect look more threatening, less of a target. For the s'mores mini cannoli ($2), a similar evolutionary strategy proves much less effective. Its natural enemy, the midafternoon snacker, enjoys s'mores, which are even more vulnerable to attack after the owner-counterman puts them to the torch, à la minute.
