On my way to meet a friend for lunch, I was just poking my head in Halsey Street Grill, really.
Then I saw a great glowing expanse, blistered in brown and littered with black pepper. One for the road (side order, $3) showed the softer side of mac 'n' cheese. Oh, and there's butter, too.

I live a stone's throw from there and it is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. Their ribs, smothered pork, and rib steak are my favorites on the menu. My favorite sides are the mac and potato salad.
