This rendition of the noodle dish called pan mee (rm 4.60, about $1.30 at the time) is gloriously smothered in anchovies and a half-cooked egg, decorated with chives, and accompanied by a bowl of soup thick with sayur manis, sometimes called "sweet leaf." Perhaps because Kin Kin's pan mee attracts customers (and imitators) aplenty, the shop is famous (or notorious) for offering just one version, in one size. Your sole avenue of customization comes from the tub of dried chillies that sits at every table. Mix gooey egg yolk, crunchy chillies, and all the rest in the main bowl, and you're ready for action.

One of the best bowls of noodles I have ever had -- anywhere. Love the egg on top, and the magnificent chili.
