ABC, or air batu campur ("mixed ice") is an increasingly common name for this cold dessert, owing to the many add-ins.
Once upon a time it consisted solely of shaved ice and sweet red beans, hence the name used here and by other Singaporean traditionalists: ice kachang ("ice with beans"). This generously topped version (S$1.50, about US$1.20 at the time) sported not only beans but also corn, palm seeds, crushed roasted peanuts, cendol, cubes of grass jelly, and syrup inside and out.
See also this cupful of "beans with sweets"; though native to another tropical island, it's served hot.
