One rib has already been removed in the first photo, both to show how meaty they are and because I couldn't wait.
A quarter-slab of pork ribs ran $9, but it was a robust quarter-slab; long shreds of peppery mayoless slaw provided crunchy contrast. On my first visit I would have ordered the burnt ends, too, but by late afternoon on a nice day, both they and the rib tips were 86'ed, do note.
From a followup, noontime visit: burnt ends ($5.50, at $22 per pound), cut from beef brisket, are a staple of Kansas City barbecue. Like many John Brown items, they're accompanied by thick-sliced white bread. DIY quarter-pounder, anyone?

One of our favorite things about living in Astoria is all of the delicious food. It seems like every time we turn around there's another amazing restaurant that we have to try. John Brown's is definitely one of our favorite spots. The pulled pork sandwich is amazing and so is the PBLT.
