Usually my first sight of the "soup" inside xiao long bao comes after it dribbles into the spoon or, sometimes, onto my blue jeans. With other customers waiting in line, I'd watched the wrappers being sized, flattened, filled, and sealed, and though these flavorful pork-filled dumplings ($3.75; crab-and-pork, $6.75) were very juicy, as you can just make out for yourself, they were leak-free, too.
In late December, Shanghai Family Dumpling had the longest queue at the new eleven-stall Fei Long food court. It's the first stall on the left as you enter; the others, proceeding clockwise, are New York Ribeye Steak, Shall We Eat (congee, cheung fun, BBQ meats over rice), Chili Time, Emperor's Hot Pot, Saigon Express, South Asian Delight, Maine Lobster House, Grand Noodle House (hand-pulled, with the usual fixings), Sakura Teriyaki Express, and Pan Pan (frozen yogurt). As of my visit, the Ribeye, Chili Time, and South Asian stalls had yet to launch.
