New York's mayor might look askance, but for homesick Mississippians the oversized sweet tea is still de rigueur.
It accompanied a catfish platter filled out with fries, hush puppies, and slaw. For $15 (as of 2012) this might seem like slim pickings, until you factor in the abundant free samples. Some of these, from multiple editions of this long-running annual event, are shown below: Gulf shrimp and blue crab, watermelon-and-canteloupe salsa, shrimp and grits, a Mississippi mud brownie, and caramel cake. Music and a picnic atmosphere are also included.
