Though the Hong Kong-born owner keeps a halal kitchen, employs a Chinese chef, and serves a predominantly Cantonese-American menu, he's more than aware of Bath Beach, Brooklyn, demographics. The online menu is offered in both Russian and English, the server/cashier is a native of Kazakhstan, and the deliveryman (she tells me) hails from Kyrgyzstan.
There's also a second, Uzbekistan-born chef, a lady who prepares a few homestyle favorites. Shown below: a belyash, essentially a meat-filled doughnut, in biteaway view; a sample-sized portion of pilaf; and the chef's thin-crusted version of apple pie. Word has it, though, that this lady was mulling a return to her home country, where the weather, one imagines, is less beastly hot.
