The aromas of milk tea and fresh-made cookies greeted me at the door of this Bangladeshi shop. The cookies, most colored a modest tan, were unlabeled, and so the counterwoman patiently identified them: coconut, pineapple, honey, and one whose name didn't register at the time. It's like Ovaltine or Horlicks, she explained; afterward I gathered that these were Maltova cookies ($6.50 per pound). Think "chocomalt shortbread" and you'll get the drift.
