(This venue is closed.) All the Japadogs are served on a warm bun, even the dessert dog called Age Ice.
Filled with ice cream, at a glance the Age Ice (Ah-gay Ice, $2.99) resembles this Bangkok ice cream sandwich, minus the sticky rice. The Bangkok bun, however, came straight from a bag; at Japadog it's quickly deep-fried, then sparingly decorated with granulated sugar. Though in truth it's no more than a hot-dog bun, in such a context the texture is reminiscent of a good raised doughnut. Shown, above and below: maccha, or green tea; vanilla; kurogoma, or black sesame.
Previously: The crackling, tickling, enticing texture of dried nori is a hallmark of the Terimayo ($4.81), a beef dog also dressed with teriyaki sauce and mayonnaise.
