(This venue is closed.) It's filled with oceans and oceans of packaged foods from all across East Asia; the produce and fresh seafood have a more local provenance.
Tan Kim Hock brand dodol (200 g.; about 12 "pyramids"; $2.19) are sweetened with gula melaka, also known as jaggery — an unrefined, brown palm sugar that gives them an almost coffeelike kick. They're flavored with coconut, too, and like many Malaysian kueh they're based on glutinous rice, but these are firmer and lighter than most.
On other occasions: Since the pitch on this can of Super Supau (12 fl. oz.; 69 cents) was labeled "Indication," I shouldn't have been surprised that this "health-oriented drink" had an unsatisfying, almost medicinal taste. Apollo "twins" coconut and pandan layer cake (not shown; 176 g.; 8 pieces; $1.39) were pleasant-enough sponge cakes despite the depressingly long list of ingredients.
