Back at Shuangcheng St., I capped an abbreviated evening with a dessert of crushed ice (NT40) with green beans and some mystery jelly. It might have been made from aiyu, a fruit that grows only in Taiwan and that I later saw, whole, on many similar stands; it looks like a giant if elongated Hershey's Kiss covered in sesame seeds. Perhaps "lemon fig" is a local nickname for the aiyu, but the vendor also added a few dashes of some liquid that might have been responsible for the lemony tang.
