On a fluffy bun with lettuce, green slices of tomato, ketchup, and hot sauce, the thin-pounded beef on this "hamburger" was little more than another garnish.
Hard to find fault, though, with a price of 5,000 dong — about 30 cents at the time. And judging by a photo at another stand near the intersection, the scanty amount of meat may simply be the Ho Chi Minh hamburger style. Too bad I didn't try that heavy-duty hot dog, side-loaded like a banh mi; I imagine a Viet version like a Chicago-style dog, with lettuce, tomato, julienned pickled vegetables, and extra-potent sport peppers.
